when I create a new race, I usually :
1, find the model for Builder
2, find model for fighter ( about 12 difference fighter ) <-- most important, try for half melee, half range.
3, now find a good name for them
4, find some good ability that doesn't require lots of work. <-- most of warcraft's ability are too OP for Legion TD
5, set up damage/speed/hp etc <-- this is lease important.
I can make 100's new race in short time if I have enough model & ability.
Next Race : Pirate (because warcraft have lots of ship/boat model, as well as bandit)
possible race :
Wizard : ( can summon wizard tower to fight, tower cannot move eg, canon tower, magic tower, arrow tower etc)
Mage : all about spell, hard race to make
Zerg : builder model = Zerg, fighter = difference animal, like spider, insect, anub'Arak etc
Hero : 6 difference hero with difference damage type, hero can upgrade several time.
and I think I may stop adding more race after 2nd page is full.

I only take new race if
- idea/theme is not repeat from current race
- model is good
- spell is easy to make & not imbalance
so if you want to make new race accept by me, you should try :
- find model for Builder (must be warcraft default model)
- find model for every fighters (must be warcraft default model)
- simple description of fighter(like: range/melee, fast/slow, main dpser/tanker/supporter etc)
- ability for half of fighters
if new race is good idea & fit in legion td, then you can start work out damage/hp/speed/name of fighter etc.
the hardest part for new race is :
- Find 10-15 good model that make sense
- Find ability that : useful, not OP, easy to make
(unit stat, name are easiest part)

models that contain only ingame textures compresses very good - often as low as 20-40kb per model. if same model can be used multiple times (eg, by an attachment or removing the weapon and importing 2 different ones - another 6kb compressed), you could probably squeeze race into 200-300kb, max, so map size will increase for 1-1.2mb
i think this is fully acceptable.
other than that, only race i see left that has some consistency and uses ingame model is insect-based one (the hive, insect, call it what you want)
another solution is making a race totally out of theme (like demihuman, for instance - units has no connection whatsoever, yet it looks and functions good as a whole)

I think you still don't understand how to create a new race, you should try read this again
so if you want to make new race accept by me, you should try :

- name of fighter is not important (name should base on which model you use)
- stat is not important (I can make it base on my formula)
and I think you misunderstand what von_Oberstain said: he mean, if you can find good model from outside(outside mean model created by player), and good model mean it only take 20-40kb per model, then it is fine to use on Legion TD.
remember:
- I don't make model (it is professional's job, it require lots of skills in 3D modelling/graphic).
- most model you can find from internet are 200-400kb. ( the new King in 3.25 = around 400kb).
- It is rare to find unit model with 20-40kb (only the smartest model guy can make it that small).
- there are so many warcraft model havn't use, so why download model from outside ?

i agree with huan, concept is easy, but from making a paper-race to full, well balanced and functional race is a long way - for example, i made and scrapped few races (really made, with ingame models, spells, etc)

when i said 20-40kb, i meant its compressed size, mdx files compress extremely well, often to 20-30% of original size (with U9) - you can see it when tick 'reserve list file' and open map in mpqmaster - mdx are highly compressed, so basically model 200kb (original) adds <60kb to whole map size. there is plenty of 100-150kb models on hiveworkshop.

Dota never import any model, all of them can find inside warcraft 3 default model.
but Dota's spell is really complex, as well as the code for AI. that is why the file size = 7mb.
Back to topic, if you want to submit concept for new race :
- find 1 model for every fighter ( around 12 fighter + 1 builder )
- work out basic stat, eg: is it range or melee? is it dps, tank or support ?
- work out what skills
Then I may take your concept if
- models look good or have same theme.
- skill look good (not Overpower, don't require complex coding)
don't waste time on detail stat yet untill you the concept is good and easy to implement.
